Schoolchildren chanting "Assassinate Obama!" on a school bus, in a county that went 85% for McCain in Idaho, the great home of all that is potato.
The district superintendent writes a letter to parents saying that the "hyperactive media" took the story and ran with it.
The mayor of the small town wrote a public apology in the local newspaper and expressed regret that this one act put their town on the national stage.
I think the mayor is on the right track, obviously, but the superintendent...why the double standard? If this were any other candidate, any other President-to-be, the same people who express disgust with the so-called liberal media's handling of the event would be the first ones screaming bloody murder (pardon the pun) if they'd been chanting "Assassinate Bush!" Hmm.
