Why aren't YOU a Hindu? Words from Richard Dawkins

  1. i agree completely with dawkins that believing in something simply because your parents hold the same beliefs is a very poor argument.

still, would he also belittle a person's belief that the earth is round simply because he is born in a culture and a period of time when this belief is widely held?

what bearing does the popularity of a belief have on its truth value?

    peace.

  2. khany--good to see you! Actually I don't know that he would belittle a person's belief (because he's born in a period when the belief is widely held) because of the person's limitations of knowledge at any given time. But it is in the face of that knowledge, or mounting evidence that I think he would belittle NOT questioning the original belief or at least modifying it. It seems that in many ways, the beliefs that turn out to be the best for us as a society are pretty unpopular in the beginning--would you agree? Humanity is nothing if not resilient in its progress :)

  3. Question: What if you are wrong?

Answer: What if you are wrong?

Two questions dont make an answer but a waste of my time!

The crowd who applause to that verbose nonsense answer by RD are such simple minds.

  4. To me it seems a simple mind would think it impossible to see both sides :)
